Island police reports

Streetlife is based on incident reports from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office and the Bradenton Beach and Holmes Beach police departments.

Bradenton Beach

Aug. 7, 1300 block of Gulf Drive South, vandalism. The BBPD responded to a complaint about graffiti on a building.

Aug. 9, 1000 block of Gulf Drive North, drugging. The BBPD responded to a complaint from a woman who suspected her friend was drugged at a bar. The friend was conscious but reported difficulty breathing. An emergency medical team responded.

Aug. 9, 1000 block of Gulf Drive North, intoxication. The MCSO assisted a person found sleeping on a sidewalk with booking a ride-share.

Aug. 10, 500 block of Gulf Drive North, crash. A bicyclist fell near a construction area, striking their head. According to an MCSO report, the rider was transported to HCA Blake Hospital in Bradenton.

Cortez

Holmes Beach

Aug. 8, HBPD, 5801 Marina Drive, payment scam. A woman went to the HBPD to report potential fraud. She said her husband had been arrested the night before and someone claiming to be a sergeant from the MCSO called her and said she had to pay $2,500 in gift cards for bail. She said she sent $800 in gift cards before she realized it may have been a scam. She provided a phone number to police, and it came back as a Washington number. The officer advised her to report the incident online at ic3.gov.
